The national currency in Indonesia is called the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) and it is the main currency accepted in Bali.
You can easily exchange foreign currencies to Indonesian Rupiah at exchange counters available at the airport and all around Bali. However, for the best rates, we recommend changing foreign currencies at your home location before you fly out. Rates and commissions vary between merchants so make sure you count your money!
Indonesian Rupiahs (IDR) can also be directly withdrawn from ATM's all around Bali at a rate established by your bank. Furthermore, Debit/Credit Card payments are available at most (but not all - so we recommend carrying some cash) venues, restaurants, and shops.
To avoid the risk of your debit/credit card getting blocked or flagged, please inform your bank that you will be travelling to Indonesia.
