What currency is used in Tulum, Mexico?

The Mexican Peso (MXN) is the officially recognised currency in Mexico and thus Tulum.

You can easily exchange foreign currencies for Pesos at foreign exchange counters available at the airport and around Tulum. However, for the best rates, we recommend changing foreign currencies at your home location before you fly out.  Rates and commissions vary between merchants so make sure you count your money!

Mexican Pesos (MXN) can be directly withdrawn from ATMs all around Tulum at a rate established by your bank. Furthermore, Credit card payments are available in most but not all venues, restaurants and shops. 

To avoid the risk of your Debit or Credit card getting blocked, please inform your bank that you will be travelling to Mexico.
